History

Pilsbury Aberdeen Angus was founded in 2005 with the purchase of five heifers from the Piccolo herd. Their influence can still be seen in the herd today which now numbers around sixty breeding cows and growing every year through retained heifers.

Due to our situation of high altitude, rainfall and a short growing season we find that our Aberdeen Angus are best suited to a forage based system, which promotes fertility, longevity and you know reassuring what you buy really is what you get.

The key traits which we focus on when breeding our cattle are easy calving, good confirmation and daily live weight gain whilst maintaining the breed character which sets Aberdeen Angus cattle apart from other breeds.

Alongside the pedigree herd, a flock of 200 commercial ewes is also farmed which complement the cattle grazing.
